Elin Matilda Andersson is a Swedish-Australian illustrator, artist and designer based on Dharawal Country south of Sydney, nestled between the bush and the ocean.
Originally hailing from the pine forests of Sweden, she moved to Australia in 2009 and completed a BA in Communication Design in Sydney in 2012.
Elin’s background as a designer shapes her current illustration practice, where she blends humour and heart using digital and analogue techniques. During a decade working as a full-time illustrator, Elin has had the opportunity to deliver on a wide range of creative briefs, including ad campaigns, animations, murals, books, magazines and packaging projects.
With a passion for storytelling, her work is driven by the idea that creativity can be used as a tool for bettering society in small and large ways—even if it's just putting a smile on someone’s face or igniting conversation. She believes that diversity in representation is essential, and loves drawing people expressing their unique, best selves in weird and wonderful ways.
Her major influences are her Scandinavian roots and the wonder of nature; the power of community building; and watching her four-year-old daughter take on the world.
Elin Matilda is represented by Wei Productions in Scandinavia and The Jacky Winter Group in the rest of the world.
